Client Overview:
EXVO, a forward-thinking start-up specialising in electric-powered vehicles, turned to Lancereal for help in developing key components for its EX2 wheel-drive system. The focus of this collaboration was advancing the EX2 project from prototype testing to full production.
As a new company, EXVO struggled to find a supplier flexible enough to accommodate the team’s busy schedules, with meetings and development often required outside of regular office hours.
Challenges and Project Scope:
EXVO required specialised electric motors and gear systems for the EX2’s traction and hydraulic systems. These components had to integrate seamlessly into the vehicle while ensuring reliability and high performance. Lancereal’s task was to provide:
- Traction System: Custom motors, gearboxes, and other components designed to meet the performance demands of the EX2 in challenging environments.
- Hydraulic System: An efficient motor and pump solution to power the vehicle’s hydraulic system.
Solution:
Lancereal quickly adapted to EXVO’s needs, working outside of typical business hours to support Conor and Dylan, the company’s owners, who were balancing their duties at EXVO with other commitments. This flexibility allowed Lancereal to keep the project on schedule.
Beyond simply supplying parts, Lancereal acted as a trusted advisor throughout the project, providing technical guidance on system integration and recommending the best engineering solutions. This level of support positioned Lancereal as a key partner in the development of the EX2.
Products Provided:
Traction system: Lancereal integrated 80V IPM motors and planetary gearboxes, using in-house manufactured components, with EXVO’s unique drivetrain design to create a power dense, high torque solution within the space critical constraints of the machine.
Hydraulic system: Lancereal selected an 80V combined IPM motor and gear pump, a highly efficient, compact option.
Outcomes:
The EX2 has successfully completed prototype testing and is now moving into full-scale production. Lancereal’s precision components and ongoing engineering support are essential as EXVO transitions to this next phase.
Lancereal’s collaboration with EXVO has been instrumental in the successful development of the EX2. By providing customised traction and hydraulic systems, along with expert guidance and flexible support, Lancereal has proven its ability to meet EXVO’s unique requirements. As EXVO prepares to launch its next, new range, Lancereal remains a vital partner, fuelling EXVO’s ongoing innovation in electric vehicle technology.
