An insight into 2025

Laura Hampson, Managing Director at Lancereal, reflects on the challenges and innovations within the industrial sector over the past year and looks at how the sector could continue to evolve as we reach the end of the first quarter of 2025.

In the industry…

2024 finally felt like it was a year of ‘normalisation’ following the turbulent times the pandemic brought to the supply chain.

However, this past year hasn’t been all sunshine and roses.

There was a lot of uncertainty across the sector due to the on-going conflicts in the world, a new UK Government, uncertainties around government decisions in the United States, economic pressures and so on. We therefore saw a hesitation in the market for machine manufacturers, which many suppliers and customers did not forecast and it resulted in many businesses experiencing an excess of overstock.
Our team were on hand to support our customers with our flexible approach, helping them navigate these challenging times and, despite the uncertainty, the OEM’s we work with have been using this break in the market to focus on new machine development and future plans.

We look forward to seeing these plans put into motion as we continue through 2025.

Looking forward…

Lancereal is excited to be continuing our support of the evolving machinery market in the coming year, especially with a predicted demand for battery-driven equipment during the latter half of the year.

With an ongoing global commitment to reaching Net Zero, we expect to see a continuation of existing machine development and of new technologies. With the possibility of the Government offering investment to OEMs in the aim to promote ‘green’ product development and support the drive towards more sustainable energy sources.

We predict an expansion in the need for electrification, as well, with the possibility of new sectors exploring the world of battery-driven equipment.

We are aware that there are still some on-going uncertainties of how political changes will impact the growth of SMEs. However, we will continue to work on the things that we can influence, and our team feels positive about the future plans and opportunities specific to the sector.

At Lancereal, our goals for the remainder of 2025 are to continue doing more of what we do best – supporting OEMs in the UK and Ireland – and driving some exciting new electrification projects, where we are hopeful that we will soon see prototypes being approved for serial production.
