Aldercote is a leading provider of vehicle-mounted access platforms, designing, engineering and building aerial work platforms for industries including telecoms, utilities, and local authorities.
Aldercote prides itself on its speed to market – following an agile approach that sets the company apart from its competitors. But when Aldercote needed to make improvements to the control systems used in its boom and lift mechanisms, its ability to maintain production schedules was threatened due to increased prices and longer lead times.
Challenges and Project Scope:
With the motors required to drive the hydraulic pump systems falling outside of industry-standard configurations, Aldercote needed a partner that could deliver a specialised solution without impacting its production timeline.
Lancereal was tasked with:
- Supplying motors that met the specific operational demands of Aldercote’s designs.
- Ensuring the motors fit seamlessly into Aldercote’s vehicle-mounted system while staying outside of traditional industry standards.
- Managing stock and offering flexible delivery options to mitigate supply chain risks.
Solution:
Lancereal provided Aldercote with a 24V permanent magnet induction motor designed to drive the hydraulic pump powering the boom on the back of its vans and pickup trucks. This motor featured a special foot mounting, allowing it to fit Aldercote’s non-standard setup without requiring custom manufacturing.
In addition to providing the motors, Lancereal supported Aldercote with stock management. Holding stock was a critical part of the solution, allowing Aldercote to place large orders that could be delivered with agility in smaller, more manageable batches, ensuring continuous production without supply chain disruptions.

Outcomes:
Since 2022, Lancereal has supplied Aldercote with approximately 100 motors annually for its V, VZ and CZ ranges, helping to overcome supply chain challenges while enhancing the performance of its products. As part of their ongoing collaboration, Lancereal is now supporting Aldercote with motor controllers for another upcoming project.
